*sigh*. Has every one lost their common sense?
I have had about all I can stand with blaming the democrats, blaming the republicans, blaming the teachers. I am tired of listening to excuses about why we can't have Christmas Parties or Halloween parties or announce the word Happy " Birthday" over a school intercom because it offends, is not fair or bothers someone.
Apparently, kids in school should have the same rights as their parents. Apparently, it is really o.k. for adults, who supposedly have a brain, treat others with disdain and cruelty. Apparently, it is o.k. to have an opinion, just don’t share that opinion. Apparently, if a person has more money (or a better car, or nicer house or better educated or is a Christian or a Muslim or a Buddhist) it means he/she is a better person than another.
News flash: my kids, your kids, initially, do not worry about what is politically correct. Only the adults do. It is a learned behavior that is deteriorating how we look at and treat each other, around the world, "It's not fair".
O.k. let’s be fair. Just remove every holiday from the calendar. Get rid of everything that could possibly now or in the future offend or piss someone off. Don’t practice or teach by example common sense, compromise or compassion.
I would LOVE it if Life were "fair". But in my world, on the planet I live on, Earth, life is not fair. There are too many variables in life for everyone everywhere for life to be "fair". It is what it is. It is HOW people react to this natural unfairness that has led to the indifference and entitlement so many feel we deserve, that we are living with right now.
What used to be the Golden rule: "Treat people the way you want to be treated" has been changed to the Tarnished rule": "Treat me and mine the way I think I should be treated or I am going to sue your ass".
Entitlement. I call it the "Little Red Hen Syndrome". Everyone wants a piece of bread, but very few want to actually help make the bread.
People make excuses, undermine others to get what they want. Blatantly bully established systems (qualifying systems here as education, holidays, religious beliefs, public safety and healthcare) because people truly believe they deserve.
People deserve, feel entitled to because people think they are better than everyone else is. Or, they had an unfair experience in their life, or they are desperately trying to appear better than everyone else because of their own issues, whatever they may be. And, they are as legitimate as the next person’s issues but they are not an excuse.
No one dares call a spade a spade for fear of not being politically correct. Most wouldn’t dare be caught giving money to a beggar at the freeway entrance. “They will probably use it for drugs”. It is possible, but who are we to judge?
We have to Get Over Ourselves! There is a bigger picture here than just what you or I want or think is fair or unfair. In the scheme of things, your life and mine is relatively short. What you start you may not finish.
What kind of world do you want to pass on? (insert obligatory politically correct smiley face here so no one gets offended or pissed off).
